The service team at the Fischers Fritz at the luxury hotel Regent Berlin has a new head: Katja Leue has taken over the responsibility of leading a team of 20 passionate staff members.

As a trained restaurant professional, Katja Leue can look back on many years of service experience. She knows the gourmet restaurant of the 5 star superior hotel Regent Berlin like the back of her hand, working there since 2010 as Assistant Restaurant Manager. Fischers Fritz and its Executive Chef Christian Lohse have been awarded with two Michelin stars again last year for the eighth year running. The 30-year old is well prepared for her new responsibilities and says: “I am delighted to take on this new and exciting challenge. My heart beats for the Fischers Fritz, its guests and staff. Together with my team, we will continue to fulfil our guests wishes and to create unforgettable experiences.”

Stefan Athmann, General Manager of the Regent Berlin, is proud to have found a highly skilled and experienced Restaurant Manager in Katja Leue. “Katja has known the team for a long time and will continue to keep the Fischers Fritz on its successful track.”

The restaurant Fischers Fritz has appointed a new head sommelier: Andrew Connor will now be responsible for the international wine list, which comprises over 470 wines.

Originally from New Zealand, Connor began his career 13 years ago overseas in London. It was there he discovered his passion for wine, despite having already completed an art degree. After starting out as a bartender at a London wine bar, Connor quickly moved onwards and upwards; as of 2005, among other things, he worked as head sommelier at London restaurants and hotels such as “Cecconis” in Mayfair, “The Bentley Kempinski” in Kensington and “The Lanesborough” in Knightsbridge. From 2009, before moving over to Berlin, he worked at "Lutyens Restaurant”, a Prescott & Conran Ltd project. Besides this, Andrew Connor was announced City of London’s “Sommelier
of the Year” in 2008 and also took part in the international sommelier of the year competition in Rome in 2009.

The 37-year-old amateur chef is married to a Berliner and enjoys cooking for friends and family. At the Regent Berlin, his main focus will be on purchasing wine, developing the wine list and training restaurant staff. Besides this, he will be responsible for selecting specific wines to best complement meals prepared by the restaurant’s two Michelin star chef, Christian Lohse.
